چکیده

Improved accuracy of continuous arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) measurement is obtained if allowance is made for the response time of the electrode. Recalibration is necessary only when PaO2 measured in a blood sample differs from the electrode value by more than +/- 11.5 mmHg (1.5 kPa).

New technique for servo-control of arterial oxygen tension in preterm infants.

Equipment has been developed for the servo-control of arterial oxygen tension in sick, newborn babies. Using an indwelling umbilical arterial oxygen electrode as sensor, the equipment successfully regulated the administration of oxygen to 12 newborn babies with respiratory distress syndrome, significantly improving the stability of arterial oxygen tension and lessening the duration of episodes ...

TEMPERATURE CORRECTION OF ARTERIAL BLOOD pH AND CO2 TENSION IN NEWBORN INFANTS: A NEW SOLUTION FOR AN OLD PROBLEM

The acid-base status and arterial blood gas change with temperature variation. To determine the changes in arterial pH and pC02, arterial blood samples of 50 neonates with different clinical conditions were examined at temperatures of 35 to 42°C with an increment of 0.5° C, which resulted in two nonlinear equations with perfect fit on data. The temperature correction factors of these equati...

Correlation between Pulse Oximetry Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) and Measured Arterial Oxygen Saturation (SaO 2 ) and Arterial Oxygen Tension (PaOz) in Neonates

=Abstract=Pulse oximetry has recently been introduced as a method for continuous and non-invasive transcutaneous monitoring of arterial oxygen saturation in neonates. The purpose of our study was to determine the reliability, accuracy, and practicability of pulse oximetry for monitoring arterial oxygenation in sick newborn infants. Pulse oximetry oxygen saturation values (SpO2) were compared wi...

Validity of Peripheral Capillary Oxygen Saturation and Normal Mixed Venous Oxygen Tension in Measurement of O2 Content

Background The change in venous oxygen saturation occurs earlier, and even its reduction is faster than arterial oxygen saturation. The aim of this study was to validate SvO2 and PvO2 for O2 content measurement in children hospitalized w...
